A Chicago frame studio.

We established Tingley and Brown Company in 2021 to produce pieces that are honest, thorough, and well-considered. As partner founders, we bring together over 20 years combined experience in fine woodworking, frame fitting, art handling, and museum services. Our shared interest in traditional craftsmanship creates the foundation for our in-studio production of frames, displays, and a variety of custom projects designed and completed in-house for our clients.

Our studio process.

Nathaniel and Dustin work as equal partners in business and design producing pieces with deep character and the highest levels of craftsmanship. Every aspect of a product offered is carefully considered from our first sketch to what you will experience when it is in your hands. We have the strengths of our in-house shop to build on what works and the flexibility of a closely-held business to hold ourselves and our products to the highest quality standards.

Custom projects and inquiries.

With over 20 years combined experience in fine woodworking, frame fitting, and museum services, the partner founders of Tingley and Brown Company have the ability to solve an immense range of design challenges. Inquiries are welcomed.

Ready to discuss your project?

The more information you can share about your project, the better we will be able to respond to your inquiry.

Your message should include answers to these questions:

  • What type of project(s) are you thinking about?

  • What product(s) or service(s) do you intend our studio to make or render?

  • What is your project budget? Or are you soliciting a project bid?

  • What is your ideal timeframe for completion?

  • Where did you hear about our studio? Did someone refer you?

When can you expect a response?

We do our best to answer inquiries in a timely manner. However, we are a two person team and response times vary based on current studio workload. Thank you for your patience.

Does submitting a message mean you will start working on my request?

In short, no. Submitting an inquiry is the first step in communicating with our studio about your project. Submitting your inquiry message does not create a contractual obligation with our studio. We do not provide project estimates or guarantee any work to be done without additional one-on-one communication with the project stakeholder(s). Projects are officially added to our studio schedule after a formal estimate is agreed to and accepted by the project stakeholder(s) and any applicable deposits have been made. We reserve the right to dismiss incomplete inquiries.

We appreciate you have read these guidelines for submission.
